Embedded Software Engineer

Role Summary

Member of the Products and Integration team in the Core Platform development group (QCT). Integrates drivers and peripheral software, captures product and software architecture requirements, triages system-level issues, and collaborates with cross-functional hardware and software teams to deliver mobile chipset software.

Experience Level

Mid-level - typical requirement is 2+ years of software engineering experience. Minimum qualifications specify: Bachelor's +2 years, Master's +1 year, or PhD.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

• Interact with cross-functional software teams to verify and debug software stability issues and features.
• Design and implement scalable build system software and tools to generate various image flavors.
• Collaborate with hardware and systems engineering to ensure platform software meets power and performance KPIs.
• Coordinate with program management and product leads on software product roadmaps and delivery planning to reduce time to market.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience:

• Experience in embedded software development and device drivers.
• Proficient in C and C++; experience in assembly is a plus.
• Experience with integration, source control, and testing workflows.
• Working knowledge of real-time operating systems and CPU architecture.
• Experience with build systems and tooling (example: SCons).
• Scripting experience (Perl, Python, or similar).
• Strong debugging and critical-thinking skills.
• Familiarity with on-chip debugging tools (e.g., JTAG) is a plus.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field with 2+ years of software engineering experience; OR Master's degree in those fields with 1+ year of experience; OR PhD in those fields.
