Embedded Linux Software Engineer

Role Summary

This senior embedded software role leads architecture and development of embedded Linux solutions for Analog Devices products. The engineer will solve system-level problems, influence technical strategy across teams, and mentor other engineers.

Experience Level

Senior — typically 7+ years of relevant embedded software experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include system architecture, technical leadership, and cross-functional collaboration.

• Lead architecture and design of complex embedded software systems running Linux.
• Integrate hardware and software components; resolve SoC, driver, and board-level issues.
• Analyze and optimize system performance and resource usage.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines, automated build/test processes, and version control workflows.
• Provide technical leadership on strategic projects and influence cross-functional technical decisions.
• Mentor and develop engineering talent within the organization.
• Collaborate with product and business teams to align technical solutions with market needs.
• Assess and manage software licensing and compliance for embedded products.

Requirements

Key must-have technical skills and experience.

• Advanced embedded systems architecture and SoC development experience.
• Deep hardware–software integration experience and familiarity with embedded Linux drivers.
• Proven expertise in performance optimization for complex embedded systems.
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD, automated testing, and version control systems.
• Demonstrated technical leadership and ability to guide architectural decisions.
• Track record of mentoring and developing engineering teams.
• Knowledge of software licensing models (open-source, proprietary, hybrid).
• Willingness to travel up to 10%.

Nice-to-have:

• Experience owning large-scale system architecture and cross-team technical initiatives.
• Practical experience with complex system optimization on resource-constrained SoCs.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field is expected; a Master's degree is preferred and a PhD is a plus.
