Embedded Intern

Role Summary

Six-month full-time internship to develop and validate an embedded platform model (Renode) for the STM32U5A5 and to contribute to embedded firmware, integration, and verification tasks.

Work within an embedded systems engineering team on firmware, RTOS integration, toolchain-based development, and hardware/software debugging.

Experience Level

Internship / Entry-level. Suitable for students or recent graduates; no specific years of professional experience required.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities for the intern position include:

  • Develop a Renode model for the STM32U5A5 embedded platform and validate its behavior.
  • Implement and debug embedded firmware in C/C++ for ARM Cortex-M targets (M4/M33).
  • Integrate and test RTOS-based applications (Zephyr, FreeRTOS, or similar).
  • Use embedded toolchains and IDEs (IAR, Keil, GCC toolchains, VS Code) for build, debug and testing activities.
  • Collaborate with hardware and software engineers on integration, verification and documentation of results.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and expectations:

  • Hands-on experience in embedded hardware and software design, debugging, and application development in C/C++.
  • Proficiency with embedded development environments: IAR, VS Code, Keil, and/or GCC Embedded Toolchains.
  • Demonstrable experience using RTOS platforms such as Zephyr, FreeRTOS, or similar.
  • Practical experience with ARM Cortex-M architectures (M4, M33).
  • Availability for a 6-month full-time internship and willingness to travel up to ~10%.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with Renode or other system emulation/simulation frameworks.
  • Familiarity with STM32 series microcontrollers and peripheral driver development.
  • Scripting or test automation experience (e.g. Python).

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronics, Communication, or BioMedical Engineering (students pursuing these degrees or recent graduates are appropriate candidates).
