Job Title

Embedded Crypto Library Architect

Role Summary

Architect role within NXP's Secure Software IP team responsible for designing and maintaining secure cryptographic libraries for embedded products. The position focuses on requirements management, API and architectural design, code quality, and coordination with engineering and business teams.

Work covers algorithm and implementation-level security, protection against logical (and ideally physical) attacks, and integration across multiple product domains.

Experience Level

Senior-level role. The posting requests 6+ years of relevant professional experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include technical leadership for assigned cryptographic library projects and coordination across teams.

  • Lead requirements management and variant handling for assigned projects.
  • Define architectural design, technical specifications, APIs, and related documentation.
  • Contribute to high-level and detailed design with domain experts.
  • Review significant code changes for API impact and structural changes.
  • Monitor code quality and KPIs; drive corrective actions to meet targets.
  • Coordinate releases with project managers, security and test architects.
  • Collaborate with other architects on cross-project topics (static analysis, code coverage, release processes).
  • Support engineering teams on design explanation, debugging, and integration challenges.
  • Assess hardware and software changes impacting security and integration.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills, practical experience, and communication abilities.

  • Hands-on experience in embedded systems development and debugging.
  • Experience with software architecture and design concepts for embedded software.
  • Proven knowledge of C and assembly language programming.
  • Familiarity with ARM and/or RISC-V instruction sets.
  • Experience with low-level hardware interactions and integration.
  • Familiar with software security techniques and protections against logical attacks; familiarity with protections against physical attacks is a plus.
  • Basic knowledge of cryptographic algorithms and their implementation considerations.
  • Good English communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally in teams.
  • Nice-to-have: Rust experience and Python scripting for tooling or automation.

Education Requirements

Degree in Computer Science, Microelectronics Engineering or a similar technical field is requested. The posting specifies 6+ years of relevant experience but does not list alternate "equivalent experience" language beyond that.
