Electro-optical Signal Integrity
Role Summary
Internship role focused on electrical and optical signal integrity for next-generation optical engines (CPO 400G/lane and beyond). The position works within a cross-functional engineering team covering photonics, analog/ASIC design, and packaging to validate and improve high-speed links.
Experience Level
Entry-level - Internship. Approved Intern for the 2027 calendar year.
Responsibilities
Work with engineering teams to characterize, simulate, and troubleshoot electro-optical links across electrical and optical domains.
- Define and simulate architectures of high-frequency electrical interfaces for next-generation optical engines;
- Collaborate with photonics, analog/ASIC, and packaging teams to optimize performance, power, and signal integrity;
- Test, characterize, and qualify components and integrated systems in the lab;
- Develop and validate end-to-end link budgets, correlating simulation and measurement across domains;
- Analyze measurement data to identify performance limits and recommend design improvements;
- Perform root-cause analysis of complex electrical/optical signal integrity issues.

- Eligible for an internship in 2027 (per employer requirements);
- Demonstrable knowledge or coursework in high-speed signal integrity, analog/ digital interfaces, or photonics-related topics;
- Experience or coursework using simulation and measurement methods for electrical/optical interconnects and ability to correlate simulation with lab measurements;
- Practical lab skills: oscilloscope/VNA measurements, data acquisition, and basic test fixture setup (or equivalent training);
- Ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams and communicate technical findings clearly;
- Nice-to-have: familiarity with signal-integrity or electromagnetic simulation tools and scripting for data analysis (e.g., Python, MATLAB).
