Electrical Validation Intern, Client IO

Role Summary

Join the Client IO team within the Data Center Group as an Electrical Validation Intern. The role supports electrical validation of high-speed and low-speed silicon interfaces across multiple dies and development stages.

This is a hands-on, on-site internship in Guadalajara with frequent laboratory work using professional test equipment, hardware bring-up, debugging, automation, and data analysis under guidance from experienced engineers.

Experience Level

Entry-level / Internship. Intended for final-year university students or recent graduates; no extensive prior experience required, though ~3+ months of practical experience in electrical engineering is expected.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities focus on hands-on electrical validation, lab work, and test automation:

  • Perform hardware bring-up, debugging, and silicon validation activities.
  • Execute lab tests, take precise electrical measurements, and analyze results using oscilloscopes, bit error rate testers, multimeters, and similar equipment.
  • Follow established engineering processes, quality standards, and safety guidelines.
  • Support platform enablement and thermal configuration setup.
  • Troubleshoot hardware and system issues and evaluate electronic components.
  • Execute electrical validation test plans for silicon verification.
  • Perform firmware updates and maintain equipment calibration records.
  • Contribute to development and enhancement of test automation frameworks and test handler automation.

Requirements

Must-have and preferred skills for successful performance in this internship.

  • Must-have: ~3+ months practical experience in electrical engineering (digital and analog) or equivalent internship/schoolwork experience.
  • Must-have: Programming skills in Python or C++.
  • Must-have: Advanced English proficiency.
  • Must-have: Unrestricted, permanent right to work in Mexico (no visa sponsorship).
  • Must-have: Regular on-site presence in Guadalajara as required by the role.

Nice-to-have:

  • Knowledge of computer architecture.
  • Familiarity with laboratory test equipment (oscilloscopes, power supplies, signal analyzers, probes, multimeters).
  • Ability to read and interpret electronic component datasheets.

Education Requirements

Pursuing final-year or senior-level coursework toward a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related technical discipline. Equivalent practical experience from internships, industry work, or academic projects is acceptable.
