Electrical Engineer β ASIC Applications and LDA Development
Bright Silicon TechnologiesJob Title
Electrical Engineer 6 ASIC Applications and LDA Development
Role Summary
Lead specification, qualification, and integration of custom mixed-signal ASICs for Lightfield Directing Array (LDA) products. Develop test systems and characterize silicon and MEMS-related ICs to support optical communications and light-control applications.
Collaborate with hardware, embedded firmware, and cross-functional teams to validate PCBAs, define IC requirements, and resolve field issues.
Experience Level
Mid-level; at least 5 years of relevant experience.
Responsibilities
Primary duties focus on test and qualification of custom silicon and hardware integration.
- Develop electronics and PCBAs for testing and qualification of custom ASICs for LDA systems.
- Design schematics and PCB layouts; validate hardware produced from foundry silicon.
- Characterize mixed-signal ASICs, MEMS actuation and position sensing ICs, and conduct reliability testing.
- Work with high-voltage electronics, digital systems, and embedded MCUs to integrate solutions.
- Create test plans, build test systems, and perform hardware troubleshooting and validation.
- Define requirements for custom ICs to improve performance and efficiency in LDA systems.
- Manage product lifecycle, source components, and coordinate with vendors.
- Prepare technical documentation for internal and external use and collaborate across teams.
Requirements
Core technical skills and experience required; degree expectations are listed under Education Requirements.
- Minimum five years of relevant hands-on experience in hardware development or ASIC test/qualification.
- Full-stack PCB design experience covering specifications, design, and system integration.
- Proficient with ECAD tools such as Altium, Cadence Allegro/OrCAD, or KiCad.
- Experienced with electronic test equipment and hardware troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with scripting for test automation and data analysis (Python or MATLAB).
- Strong communication skills and proven ability to work with cross-functional teams.
- Proactive in identifying technical risks, attention to detail, and a systems-level perspective.
- Nice to have: prior experience with MEMS, high-voltage electronics, embedded MCUs, and reliability testing.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field is preferred. The posting allows equivalent practical experience in lieu of a degree.
