EDA & PLM Systems Engineer
Role Summary
Technical lead for Siemens Xpedition and Siemens Teamcenter platforms used by hardware and build operations in Boise, ID. Own system health, architecture, upgrades, and user engagement.
Work with engineering, IT/SRE, and vendors to improve reliability, automate workflows, and deliver validated platform changes that support product development.
Experience Level
Mid-level - typically 3 to 7 years of relevant experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include platform administration, lifecycle management, upgrade planning, and stakeholder coordination.
- Administer, configure, and support Siemens Teamcenter and Siemens Xpedition environments.
- Plan and execute software upgrades with IT/SRE and vendor teams, including migration planning, validation testing, risk assessment, and rollback strategies.
- Define and prioritize system enhancements; develop feature requests and coordinate deliveries with IT and vendors.
- Develop and run User Acceptance Testing (UAT); document results and provide deployment recommendations.
- Maintain system architecture documentation, operating procedures, and automation to improve efficiency and reliability.
- Engage with engineering teams and vendors to triage issues and drive continuous improvement of tooling and workflows.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience required for successful performance in the role.
- 3 to 7 years of experience with EDA tools, PLM administration, engineering systems, or related environments.
- Hands-on production experience with Siemens Xpedition (xDX Designer, xPCB Layout, EDM Library/Server) and Siemens Teamcenter.
- Experience developing technical requirements, feature requests, UAT plans, and software deployment documentation.
- Proven ability to communicate complex technical concepts across engineering, IT, management, and external vendor teams.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience using Generative AI or LLMs to improve engineering workflows or automation.
- Python scripting for workflow automation, tool customization, or process improvement.
- Experience with software governance, enterprise application lifecycle management, or organizational transitions.
- Familiarity with SolidWorks, MCAD/ECAD integrations, cloud infrastructure (AWS), or IT/SRE operations.
- Experience supporting semiconductor, hardware engineering, test engineering, or defense electronics environments.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field, or equivalent demonstrated experience.
