EDA Application Engineer

Role Summary

Provide application support for electromagnetic (EM) simulation across RFIC, package, and module development teams. The role focuses on troubleshooting simulation setups, resolving tool-related issues, supporting correlation/verification activities, and enabling efficient use of EM tools by design and product teams.

Experience Level

Entry-level / Early Career — typically requires about 2+ years of relevant experience in RF, microwave, electromagnetics, or simulation-related engineering.

Responsibilities

Day-to-day technical support and coordination to ensure accurate EM simulation results and workflow efficiency.

  • Provide day-to-day support to design teams using electromagnetic simulation tools.
  • Assist with simulation setup, model creation, meshing, convergence troubleshooting, and result interpretation.
  • Investigate and troubleshoot EM tool issues, bugs, and workflow challenges.
  • Work with EDA vendors and internal teams to resolve software issues and improve tool usability.
  • Maintain simulation environments, software releases, and computing resources.
  • Execute EM simulations using available computing infrastructure and help optimize runtimes.
  • Deliver training and best-practice guidance to enable users to use EM simulation tools effectively.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience.

  • Approximately 2+ years of hands-on experience in RF, microwave, electromagnetics, or simulation engineering.
  • Basic understanding of electromagnetic theory, RF fundamentals, and numerical simulation methods.
  • Practical experience with Ansys HFSS, CST Microwave Studio, or similar EM simulation tools.
  • Exposure to RFIC, MMIC, package, antenna, or RF module development through coursework, internships, or industry experience.
  • Strong analytical thinking, troubleshooting ability, and clear verbal/written communication skills.
  • Teamwork and collaboration skills; ability to coordinate with designers, modeling teams, and vendors.

Nice-to-have:

  • Familiarity with Linux environments and high-performance computing systems.
  • Basic Python scripting experience.
  • Experience supporting or troubleshooting engineering software applications.

Education Requirements

Required: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related discipline. Preferred: Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related discipline. The posting also accepts an equivalent amount of advanced education and experience in lieu of the stated degree requirements.
