E-core CPU Power Delivery Engineer
Intel CorporationJob Title
E-core CPU Power Delivery Engineer
Role Summary
Join the E-core CPU team as a Power Delivery Engineer responsible for designing and validating the on-die and package power distribution network (PDN) for next-generation CPU cores. The role is cross-functional, interfacing with circuit design, RTL/SD teams, power management architects, layout, package integration and post-silicon debug to deliver a complete, reliable power solution.
Experience Level
Mid-level. Minimum 5+ years of relevant experience in Physical Design, SoC/CPU design, CMOS circuit design, VLSI or related fields.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include design, verification and cross-functional integration of the PDN and supporting sign-off and debug activities.
- Perform feasibility studies and design/verification/simulation of the PDN; drive IR/EM sign-off criteria.
- Define and implement power gating solutions with power management architects and layout teams.
- Converge PDN metrics with RTL, synthesis/DFT (SD) and circuit teams.
- Define bump patterns and the on-die power grid topology.
- Coordinate with package integration to ensure the complete system meets PDN and reliability specifications.
- Support post-silicon debug: triage, debug and fix PDN-related issues found in silicon.
- Participate in cross-functional design reviews and establish sign-off flows for power and reliability.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred skills listed separately.
- Minimum 5+ years experience in Physical Design, SoC/CPU design, CMOS circuit design, digital logic optimization, circuit trade-offs for power/performance/area, or VLSI.
- Experience in power delivery design, implementation and validation for high-performance and low-power designs.
- Experience with IR/EM analysis tools (Mentor Graphics RedHawk or equivalent).
- Familiarity with low-power implementation techniques and power-gating strategies.
- Ability to write automation or analysis scripts (TCL, Python) for design/verification tasks.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication and interpersonal skills; ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks.
- Nice to have: hands-on post-silicon debug experience and prior package integration collaboration.
Education Requirements
BS or MS in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering (required).
