E-Core (Atom) CPU Layout Design Engineer

Role Summary

Responsible for physical implementation of memory compilers, custom IP blocks, and layout partitions for Intel Atom CPU products. Work on complex digital physical design tasks across multiple design stages within a cross-functional team.

Experience Level

Mid-level - typically requires 3+ years of layout design experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include delivering and verifying physical layouts and working with circuit, SoC and CAD teams to integrate and debug designs.

  • Drive complex digital physical design assignments independently across multiple design stages.
  • Interpret schematics with circuit design engineers and implement physical layouts.
  • Build and verify layouts from leaf-level cell to block-level and top-level integration.
  • Work with CAD team to debug tool functionality and resolve tool issues.
  • Partner with SoC teams and cross-site design groups to ensure alignment and reuse.
  • Manage priorities and multiple tasks to meet project schedules.

Requirements

  • Must-have: 3+ years of layout design experience.
  • Must-have: Familiarity with VLSI and CMOS logic circuit design.
  • Must-have: Proven ability to implement and verify layouts from cell-level through top-level integration.
  • Must-have: Experience working with CAD/physical design tools and debugging tool issues.
  • Must-have: Proficient programming/scripting skills (UNIX shell, TCL, Perl).
  • Nice-to-have: Strong verbal and written communication, interpersonal skills, prioritization and multitasking, and analytical problem-solving abilities.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience collaborating with SoC teams and cross-site engineering groups.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Electronic/Microelectronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
