Job Title
DSP Architecture Engineer
Role Summary
The DSP Architecture Engineer will design and validate DSP architectures and algorithms for high-speed serial-link transceivers used in electrical and optical datacenter and AI communications. The role sits in an R&D team responsible for next-generation SerDes developments and requires collaboration with analog, digital and firmware teams.
Experience Level
Senior-level (Staff-level role indicated). Advanced degree expected; 2–5 years of DPS architecture/algorithm experience is noted as a plus.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Design and simulate DSP architectures and define key capabilities and performance requirements.
- Develop and simulate DSP algorithms and behavioral models for mixed-signal SerDes and optical channels.
- Drive specifications and collaborate with analog and digital designers to ensure implementable circuit architectures.
- Perform R&D activities to optimize performance for 100G+ per lane data rates.
- Participate in cross-functional bring-up, validation, and optimization activities with firmware teams.
Requirements
Technical must-haves and preferred skills (degree requirements are listed separately under Education Requirements):
-
Must-have: Deep understanding of digital communication and signal processing theory.
-
Must-have: Strong experience in communication system modeling and simulation.
-
Must-have: Proficient programming skills in Matlab and/or Python; experience with C/C++ is expected.
-
Must-have: Ability to work in cross-functional teams and communicate design requirements to analog/digital engineers.
-
Nice-to-have: Knowledge of optical communication systems.
-
Nice-to-have: Experience in high-speed DSP and Clock and Data Recovery (CDR).
-
Nice-to-have: Experience with digital implementation of DSP algorithms.
Education Requirements
Master's degree and/or PhD in Communication Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. The posting also notes 2–5 years of experience with DSP architecture and algorithm development is appreciated.
