Dry Etch - DMTS, PD, Advance NAND
Micron TechnologyJob Title
Dry Etch - DMTS, PD, Advance NAND
Role Summary
Senior individual contributor role based at Fab 10N/X, Singapore, responsible for defining, developing, and transferring advanced dry etch processes for Next Generation NAND. The role leads technology and hardware roadmaps, works with suppliers, and collaborates across process integration, manufacturing and other process areas.
Experience Level
Senior-level. The role targets very experienced candidates (roughly 15β20 years in dry etch process development with ~10β15 years in memory products such as NAND/DRAM as referenced in the posting).
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include technical leadership in dry etch R&D, process transfer, and cross-functional integration.
- Lead development and transfer of advanced dry etch processes for Next Generation NAND.
- Serve as technical expert for dry etch process, hardware, and applications within the Singapore NAND organization.
- Define equipment and hardware roadmaps and coordinate technical direction with suppliers.
- Benchmark external technology and translate findings to internal process and integration improvements.
- Resolve complex yield, defectivity, and integration challenges using deep knowledge of plasma physics, surface interactions, and materials.
- Provide technical mentorship and direction to SMTS/STS engineers and raise overall team capability.
- Lead multi-functional teams across Technology Development, Process Integration, and Manufacturing to solve structural and integration problems.
- Develop FOAK dry etch methods including recipe architecture, EPD strategy, control plans, and integration alignment.
- Present technical roadmaps and status updates to executive stakeholders and represent Micron at technical forums.
- Integrate AI-assisted tools and champion data-driven/AI solutions to improve process development and productivity.
Requirements
Key technical and professional requirements. Education specifics are listed under Education Requirements below.
- Extensive hands-on experience in dry etch process development and R&D (senior-level, long-tenure experience in memory or logic process flows).
- Deep knowledge of plasma physics, plasma chemistry, transport phenomena, and surface interactions.
- Experience with various plasma dry etch reactors (RF sources, chemistries) and etch hardware.
- Proven expertise in statistical process control and analysis.
- Experience solving scalability challenges for deep, high-aspect-ratio silicon and dielectric etches, including advanced pulsing schemes.
- Demonstrated leadership in technical problem solving and management of technical projects; ability to influence roadmaps across teams.
- Experience working with suppliers and leading supplier technical evaluations and negotiations.
- Strong data analysis/computer skills, including MS Office and JMP or similar tools.
- Nice-to-have: data science basics, Python coding, AI/ML experience; prior experience across leading semiconductor companies; experience transferring R&D processes into manufacturing.
Education Requirements
PhD in Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, Materials Science, Physics, Chemical Physics, Chemistry, Semiconductor Engineering or related fields is listed for candidates with ~15β20 years of applicable dry etch process development experience. Alternatively, BS or MS in the same fields with substantially greater relevant experience (the posting cites >18 years) is listed. (The posting specifies degree-field combinations and associated extensive experience expectations rather than a single strict degree requirement.)
