DRAM Product Engineer - Mobile Design Validation and AI-Driven Optimization
Role Summary
Product engineering role focused on validation and optimization of low-power DRAM (LPDDR) products for mobile, automotive, and data center applications. The role performs failure analysis, electrical validation, and NPI activities while applying AI/ML techniques to improve test coverage and characterization efficiency.
Works across design, manufacturing, test, and product teams and supports cross-site handover between Taiwan, Japan, and other global teams.
Experience Level
Mid-level engineer. The position expects experienced candidates (more than 5 years in the semiconductor industry is typical for this grade).
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include validation, analysis, and optimization of LPDDR products across silicon bring-up through characterization and handover.
- Perform electrical validation and silicon characterization across operating conditions.
- Conduct failure analysis using tester data, data mining, and silicon measurements.
- Drive and implement root-cause fixes with Circuit Design; run digital/analog simulation to identify design issues.
- Support NPI activities: bring-up, characterization, and cross-site handover.
- Own LPDDR-specific validation items (power, timing margin, IDD, training behaviors).
- Apply AI/ML and optimization techniques to test-parameter optimization, failure-pattern analysis, and characterization planning.
- Define measurable objectives, constraints, baselines, and evaluation criteria for AI-assisted approaches and validate AI recommendations with simulation, tester data, and silicon evidence.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, Process Integration, Application Engineering, and Test Solutions teams across sites.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience for successful performance in the role.
- Strong electrical testing skills on ATE platforms.
- Solid electrical engineering fundamentals and understanding of IC design and semiconductor devices.
- Experience with data mining, yield analysis, and test-data analysis automation or scripting.
- Programming capability in Python; experience with C++, Verilog/SystemVerilog is desirable.
- Experience working in NPI environments and delivering project results independently.
- Ability to validate AI-generated insights using circuit knowledge, simulation, and tester/silicon data.
- Good communication and cross-functional collaboration skills across global teams.
- AI background, familiarity with LPDDR architecture and JEDEC specifications, and experience automating test-data workflows are strong pluses.
Education Requirements
Required: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science. Desired: background in VLSI, Semiconductor Physics, or Nanotechnology. Japanese language capability is a plus.
