Division Product Development System Engineer
Role Summary
Lead system and subsystem integration, testing, and characterization for LS‑SWIFT patterned wafer inspection products within KLA's Global Products Group. Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and marketing teams to define system architecture, validate performance, and transfer designs into manufacturing.
Experience Level
Mid-level. The role prefers candidates with more than three years of relevant professional experience.
Responsibilities
Primary duties include:
- Lead system and subsystem integration, testing, and characterization; define and maintain specifications for performance and reliability.
- Create and execute test plans to validate system performance and support characterization activities.
- Coordinate cross-functional project activities, align stakeholders, and provide regular status updates to management.
- Deliver structured training to Manufacturing and NPI Engineers and maintain up-to-date product knowledge.
- Support manufacturing and field service teams with optics- and system-related escalations and troubleshooting.
- Document design, testing, and diagnostic procedures to enable efficient transfer into manufacturing.
- Participate in design and system architecture reviews with marketing and engineering teams.
Requirements
Must-have and preferred qualifications:
- Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision and deliver results on schedule.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; professional-level English (written and verbal).
- Demonstrated experience analyzing and resolving complex technical issues within multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience developing or supporting complex optical-mechanical systems or assemblies.
- Willingness to travel: international up to ~20% and domestic approximately ~30%.
- Ability to coordinate stakeholders, prioritize technical conflicts, and escalate when required.
- Nice-to-have: scripting experience (e.g., Python) and background in optoelectronics, sensor technology, microscopy, optics, or system design/support.
Education Requirements
Advanced degree (Master's or PhD) in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Optics, or a related technical field is expected; preferably combined with more than three years of relevant professional experience.
