Job Title
Distributed Systems Engineer
Role Summary
Join a team building a next-generation distributed transistor-level electromigration and IR drop analysis platform. The role focuses on designing and implementing scalable distributed data pipelines, orchestration, and visualization to support multi-terabyte circuit simulation workloads.
This is an engineering role working with a Python-based orchestration layer and high-performance C++ solvers to enable reliable, observable, and performant distributed simulations.
Experience Level
Mid-level. Prefer candidates with 3+ years building distributed systems; equivalent production experience considered.
Responsibilities
Deliver core distributed infrastructure and tooling to process large-scale circuit simulation data across compute clusters.
- Design and implement ingestion pipelines and high-performance I/O for multi-TB netlists and simulation data.
- Develop serialization/deserialization and Python/C++ interoperability layers.
- Implement task distribution, fault-tolerant scheduling, resource management, and load balancing for long-running simulations.
- Build monitoring, observability, and optimization for distributed workflows and task granularity.
- Develop scalable visualization and interactive data exploration for large, multi-dimensional simulation results.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience for immediate contribution.
-
Must-have: 3+ years building distributed systems with Python and production experience in large codebases.
- Experience with distributed computing frameworks (Dask, Spark, Ray, or Celery) and understanding of data locality and fault tolerance.
- Experience with high-performance data formats (HDF5, Parquet, Arrow) and data partitioning/streaming patterns.
- Familiarity with Python/C++ interop tools (e.g., pybind11, nanobind) and strong Python and C++ programming skills.
- Knowledge of software engineering best practices: testing, code review, and collaborative workflows.
-
Nice-to-have: EDA/VLSI or computational engineering background, scientific visualization experience, HPC job scheduler (Slurm, PBS, LSF) experience, GPU acceleration, cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure), Go or modern visualization tools, and open-source contributions.
Education Requirements
Not specified.
