Distinguished Technologist, VLSI Engineering

Role Summary

Senior technical leader responsible for VLSI strategy, architecture, and design across business units. Provides technical direction for complex integrated-circuit projects, leads cross-organizational design reviews, and mentors engineering teams.

Experience Level

Senior - typically 15+ years of relevant VLSI or hardware engineering experience.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include strategic technical leadership and hands-on guidance for VLSI development.

  • Develop VLSI strategy and technology roadmaps across the business unit and company.
  • Act as recognized technical authority on VLSI design, architectures, and industry standards.
  • Provide VLSI consultation and design input for prototype and new product development.
  • Lead multi-organization VLSI design reviews and influence architecture and cost decisions.
  • Provide technical leadership and accountability for multiple project teams and external partners.
  • Identify emerging VLSI technologies and recommend new projects and programs.
  • Mentor and develop less experienced engineers and participate in selection of future technical leaders.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills, experience, and attributes.

  • Extensive expertise in VLSI principles, digital logic, and computer architecture.
  • Deep experience designing VLSI components and integrating circuitry into complex solutions.
  • Proficiency with hardware description languages, EDA tools, and FPGA tool flows.
  • Strong programming and scripting skills for design and verification automation.
  • Proven record of technical leadership, influence with executive stakeholders, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Track record of innovation (patents, publications, technical presentations).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Typical experience level: 15+ years in relevant roles.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
