Distinguished Member of Technical Staff (DMTS) – Process Development, Wet, NAND
Role Summary
The DMTS is a senior technical leader responsible for shaping long-term wet process and chemistry strategy for NAND memory. This role drives supplier engagement, defines exclusivity and collaboration mechanisms, and aligns process roadmaps across organizations to advance memory process capabilities.
The position spans internal technical leadership, external partnerships with vendors and research institutions, and mentoring senior technical staff.
Experience Level

Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include strategic direction, supplier engagement, cross-team alignment, and technical leadership.
- Set long-term wet-process and chemistry strategy and evaluate new materials/methods from academic and consortium projects to guide roadmap decisions.
- Engage with equipment and materials suppliers to drive technology development, ensure alignment and progress, and build strategic relationships.
- Define and drive SOW agreements to increase exclusivity of equipment, chemistry, and process solutions.
- Align process technology roadmaps across process development (PD) teams and resolve cross-organizational logistical issues.
- Prepare technical presentations, white papers, and patent filings; initiate strategic collaborations with external partners.
- Integrate AI-assisted tools and insights to improve efficiency and quality, and promote AI-enabled improvements within scope of work.
- Guide and mentor senior technical contributors and sustain a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence.
Requirements
Must-have technical capabilities and professional skills; education and years-of-experience details are listed under Education Requirements.
- Extensive wet process development experience and deep understanding of memory technologies and semiconductor processing/devices.
- Expertise in process technologies such as vapor etch, wet strip, dry strip, and selective chemical etching.
- Knowledge of surface science and analytical methods for material properties, and rational risk assessment.
- Familiarity with electrical evaluation methods and fab metrology tools (e.g., CD-SEM, thickness measurement, particle counters).
- Proficiency with DOE/SPC and data analysis systems to analyze experimental outcomes.
- Working knowledge of memory process flow in both planar and vertical NAND contexts.
- Demonstrated record of technical contributions such as publications or patents.
- Soft skills: cross-functional collaboration, concise communication, prioritization in dynamic environments, and mentoring capability.
Education Requirements
PhD with at least 15 years of relevant experience, or Master’s degree with at least 17 years of relevant experience, in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field.
