Job Title

Distinguished Member of Technical Staff (DMTS) – Process Development, Cell Film, NAND

Role Summary

Senior technical leader responsible for shaping the cell film process technology roadmap for 3D NAND. Leads enterprise-wide R&D programs, drives external collaborations and benchmarking, produces high-impact technical deliverables, and mentors senior technical staff to guide roadmap and investment decisions.

Experience Level

Senior — this role requires extensive senior-level experience and technical leadership. See Education Requirements for specific years-of-experience guidance.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include defining technical direction for cell film, leading cross-functional programs, and delivering measurable improvements to yield, reliability, and cost.

  • Define and maintain the cell film process technology roadmap and prioritize investments.
  • Lead enterprise-wide programs to develop, industrialize, and scale thin-film and cell-film solutions for 3D NAND.
  • Drive external collaborations, benchmarking, and represent the organization in consortia and conferences.
  • Perform comprehensive root cause analyses for complex technical failures and define strategies for yield, reliability, and cost improvement.
  • Prepare high-impact technical presentations, white papers, and patent filings.
  • Mentor senior technical leaders and influence cross-functional and cross-disciplinary teams.
  • Integrate AI-assisted tools and insights to improve efficiency, quality, and effectiveness where appropriate.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and professional capabilities. Degree and field expectations are listed under Education Requirements.

  • Deep expertise and recognized authority in ALD/CVD thin film deposition technologies; experience inventing and deploying new deposition methods, materials, and integration strategies for 3D NAND.
  • Experience in thin film R&D for NAND, including diffusion, CVD, and cell film technologies.
  • Proven ability in process–device correlation frameworks, reliability modeling, and advanced failure analysis.
  • Mastery of advanced characterization and electrical evaluation techniques (SIMS, XPS, TEM, EELS, APT, electrical stress testing, ML-assisted image analysis).
  • Track record of publications and patents and demonstrated technical leadership influencing technology direction and industry standards.
  • Structured problem-solving, learning agility, clear communication, and strong cross-functional collaboration skills.

Education Requirements

PhD in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field with at least 15 years of relevant experience; OR Master’s degree in those fields with at least 17 years of relevant experience. Equivalent practical experience in relevant technical roles may be considered. No specific certifications were listed.
