Distinguished Engineer, Mali Graphics Architecture
Role Summary
Senior technical lead on Arm's Central Technology Graphics team in Cambridge responsible for driving Mali GPU architecture and related software tools. The role combines architecture, research, prototyping, performance modelling and collaboration with product, partner and customer teams to deliver industry-leading GPU IP.
Experience Level
Senior — minimum 15+ years of professional experience in computer graphics or equivalent industry experience.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include architecture definition, analysis, and tool development to meet performance, power and area targets for Mali graphics products.
- Design and develop Mali graphics architecture for current and next-generation graphics APIs and markets.
- Drive architecture evolution to meet future content and market demands.
- Perform high-level performance modelling and analysis of hardware features, applications, benchmarks and games.
- Develop and improve tools for architectural exploration and performance analysis.
- Analyse system-level trade-offs including hardware, memory systems and system software.
- Collaborate with engineering teams, product groups, partners and customers to deliver designs into products.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and professional qualities, followed by desirable additions.
- Deep background in computer graphics and GPU architecture.
- Proven ability to quantify and trade off power, performance and area to meet product requirements.
- Strong programming skills in C and C++; experience with scripting languages.
- Practical knowledge of graphics APIs (for example OpenGL, OpenCL, DirectX).
- Strong communication skills and experience working in global, cross-functional teams.
- Experience with performance modelling and architectural analysis.

Nice-to-have: track record of driving architecture development focused on PPAB (performance, power, area, bandwidth) optimizations.
- Experience with micro-architecture performance modelling.
- Previous involvement in RTL design for GPUs.
Education Requirements
Requires a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science (BSEE or BSCS). A Master’s or PhD in EE or CS is preferred.
