Job Title

Distinguished Engineer – Data Center System Software Architect

Role Summary

Lead the end-to-end system software architecture for NVIDIA data center platforms (DGX, HGX), covering firmware, kernel drivers, operating systems, and user-mode drivers. Work with internal component leads and hyperscaler customers to define requirements, align roadmaps, and deliver production systems.

Experience Level

Senior-level. Requires 20+ years of experience in system architecture and design.

Responsibilities

Own technical architecture and customer-facing technical engagement for next-generation data center products.

  • Serve as primary technical contact for major customers; lead technical discussions and define KPIs and requirements.
  • Architect system software across firmware, OS, drivers, and user-mode stacks for server platforms integrating GPUs, DPUs, and CPUs.
  • Align product roadmaps with customer requirements and drive adoption of new technologies and protocols.
  • Make critical technical decisions under ambiguity and mitigate program risk through early validation strategies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including platform security, HW, and cloud partners to deliver production systems.
  • Drive standards and interoperability work with hyperscalers and industry partners when required.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and proven track record delivering complex system software for data center platforms.

  • Deep expertise in scalable, high-performance server system architecture and SW/HW interfaces.
  • Extensive experience with system software for accelerators (GPUs, DPUs, FPGAs).
  • Mastery of system firmware (SBIOS, OpenBMC), embedded systems, and Linux kernel internals.
  • Proficiency in Out-of-Band and In-Band management architectures and device/system management protocols (examples: MCTP, PLDM, SPDM, RDE, Redfish, IPMI).
  • Broad networking knowledge including TCP/IP, Ethernet, InfiniBand, and switching/routing concepts.
  • Experience partnering with platform security teams to balance security and usability tradeoffs.
  • Proven ability to lead complex, cross-functional programs and influence without direct authority.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with cloud/cluster deployment and management systems and participation in standards bodies (e.g., OCP, DMTF).
  • Familiarity with NVIDIA HPC programming models and libraries (CUDA, cuDNN, DOCA).
  • Knowledge of enterprise storage architectures and distributed parallel processing paradigms.

Education Requirements

BS or MS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field — or equivalent practical experience.
