Job Title

Director, Security & Compliance

Role Summary

Lead Snowcap's security and compliance program for a CUI-bearing cryogenic test facility and upcoming manufacturing build-out. Own NIST SP 800-171 / CMMC L2 readiness, physical security for a sensitive facility, threat intelligence, incident response, and federal / law-enforcement liaison.

This is a contract-to-FTE role: drive assessment readiness and control implementation in the first six months, then convert to Director, Security & Compliance to sustain and scale the program.

Experience Level

Senior — typically 15+ years of senior security leadership experience (explicitly stated).

Responsibilities

Accountable for end-to-end security posture, compliance, and relationships required for a government-facing program and sensitive facility.

  • Lead preparation for a 3PAO / C3PAO assessment against NIST SP 800-171 Rev 2: SSP, POA&M, evidence collection, and SPRS scoring.
  • Drive CMMC Level 2 readiness and advise on control uplift strategies.
  • Design, commission, and operate physical security for the Florida cryogenic test facility and subsequent manufacturing sites (access control, CCTV, intrusion detection, visitor management, CUI-rated workspaces).
  • Stand up and operate threat intelligence covering physical threats, insider risk, supply-chain compromise, and actors interested in superconducting technology.
  • Own IAM, endpoint hardening, network/cloud posture, vulnerability management, and secure SDLC integration to meet 800-171 baselines.
  • Build and exercise incident response (tabletops at least twice per year) and security awareness / role-based training for CUI handlers and privileged users.
  • Manage DFARS 252.204-7012 incident reporting, subcontractor flow-downs, and supply-chain risk for fab and equipment vendors.
  • Partner with legal and operations on ITAR / EAR classification and data segmentation for manufacturing and engineering data.
  • Serve as senior liaison with federal law enforcement, the intelligence community, and partner agencies; chair security governance with senior leadership.

Requirements

Must-have experience and attributes to successfully run a high-stakes compliance and security program.

  • 15+ years of senior security leadership in government-aligned programs, defense contractors, federal law enforcement, or the intelligence community.
  • Direct accountability for leading an organization through a NIST SP 800-171 / DFARS 7012 assessment (SSP and POA&M ownership, SPRS score defense, 3PAO engagement) or clear plan to acquire that capability immediately.
  • Experience standing up physical security for a facility from construction to operation (sensitive/controlled/high-value facilities).
  • Demonstrated strength in at least two areas: cyber compliance/governance, physical security at scale, threat intelligence and risk management, executive protection, or inter-agency liaison.
  • Startup operating mindset: able to write policy, negotiate vendors, and prioritize pragmatic compliance on tight timelines.
  • U.S. person and clearance-eligible; successful background investigation required.

Education Requirements

Certifications and advanced credentials referenced in the posting include CISSP, CISM, or equivalent senior federal security background. CMMC-AB Registered Practitioner, CCP, or CCA are listed as strong positives. Advanced credentials such as a PhD or executive fellowships were noted as distinguishing but not required. No specific bachelor’s/master’s degree requirement was stated; equivalent senior security experience is acceptable.
