Director, Product Management - Processors - Industrial & Edge AI
QualcommJob Title
Director, Product Management - Processors - Industrial & Edge AI
Role Summary
Lead product definition, roadmap, and lifecycle for processors and reference hardware targeting Industrial and Edge AI markets. Translate customer workloads and system requirements into SoC, package, board, software, and platform specifications.
Collaborate with architecture, silicon, hardware, systems, validation, and software teams to deliver SoCs, reference platforms, BSP/middleware, and validation for production deployments.
Experience Level
Senior - requires 8+ years of product management or related experience; 15+ years preferred for deep semiconductor/SoC leadership roles.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include chipset and platform product management, technical definition, and cross-functional execution.
- Own processor and platform definition, roadmap, positioning, business case, pricing inputs, and lifecycle management.
- Create MRDs/PRDs that map customer workloads to measurable silicon, package, board, software, reliability, longevity, and platform requirements.
- Make trade-offs across performance, power, cost, die size, memory, I/O, connectivity, package, thermal design, and software scope.
- Specify requirements across CPU, GPU, NPU, DSP, real-time compute, vision, memory hierarchy, security, virtualization, and high-speed I/O.
- Architect for latency, determinism, bandwidth, QoS, functional isolation, and mixed-criticality systems combining Linux/Windows with RTOS domains.
- Translate motor and motion-control workloads into timers, PWM, encoder, sensor interface, ADC, safety, and control-loop responsiveness requirements.
- Define industrial networking requirements (industrial Ethernet, TSN, time synchronization, redundancy) and relevant protocols (EtherCAT, PROFINET, EtherNet/IP, OPC UA, Modbus, CAN/CAN-FD, IO-Link).
- Drive cross-functional execution to deliver SoC, reference hardware, BSP, middleware, validation plans, support design wins, product launches, and lifecycle transitions.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and proven product leadership relevant to the role.
- Proven product management ownership of chipset or SoC products through definition, launch, and production lifecycle.
- Deep understanding of heterogeneous compute and SoC architecture trade-offs (performance, power, cost, memory, I/O).
- Experience defining hardware and software requirements for machine vision, Edge AI workloads, and production AI platforms (benchmarks, latency, power-efficiency).
- Experience with industrial systems, motor/motion control, and industrial connectivity requirements.
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams across architecture, silicon, hardware, software, validation, operations, and sales.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management with OEMs, module vendors, and platform providers.
Nice-to-have:
- 15+ years of semiconductor product management, SoC architecture, or embedded processor experience.
- Direct experience with reference hardware development, BSP/middleware delivery, or supply and lifecycle planning.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related technical field is required. Advanced degrees (Master’s or Doctorate) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related fields are preferred and may substitute for up to two years of the stated experience.
