Job Title
Director of Test Engineering
Role Summary
Lead a global test engineering organization responsible for test strategy and delivery across wafer sort, final test, characterization, and qualification for power and mixed-signal products. Build engineering capability, scale capacity, and develop technical leadership to meet production and cost targets.
Partner with Design, Product Engineering, Reliability, Quality, Operations, and OSATs to ensure products are production-ready, cost-effective, and meet yield and reliability goals.
Experience Level
Senior β 15+ years of semiconductor test engineering experience, including 8+ years managing engineering teams and managers.
Responsibilities
Key delivery and leadership responsibilities:
- Lead worldwide teams of test managers, architects, and engineers across multiple regions and sites.
- Define and execute end-to-end test strategy (wafer sort, final test, characterization, qualification) and standardize methodologies and ATE architectures.
- Own test cost targets: reduce test time, enable multisite scaling, and improve hardware efficiency.
- Engage early in product planning to shift DFT, characterization, and production readiness left in the development cycle.
- Drive rapid root-cause analysis and corrective actions for yield excursions, test escapes, and customer returns.
- Support capital planning and capacity expansion to ensure manufacturing readiness ahead of ramp.
- Lead adoption of automation, data systems, and AI-enabled engineering practices to accelerate development.
Requirements
Must-have technical and leadership qualifications:
- 15+ years in semiconductor test engineering with at least 8 years leading engineering teams and managers.
- Proven record developing ATE solutions for analog, mixed-signal, or power-management products and releasing them into high-volume manufacturing.
- Strong command of characterization, qualification, yield analysis, and production-test methodology.
- Demonstrated success leading geographically distributed teams across multiple sites and time zones.
- Proven track record of driving test cost reduction and organizational transformation.
- Excellent executive communication and cross-functional leadership skills.
- Nice-to-have: experience with SPEA, ETS, V93K or Cohu platforms.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline is required. Master's degree is preferred.
