Job Title

Director of Product Management - Hardware

Role Summary

Lead product strategy and commercialization for Taara's chip-based hardware technologies. Work with engineering, business development, and customers to define roadmaps, validate markets, and drive adoption toward high-volume commercial products.

This role requires technical depth, commercial judgment, and the ability to operate in ambiguity to translate complex technology into viable products.

Experience Level

Senior - typically 10+ years of product management experience in semiconductor or chip-based product development and commercialization.

Responsibilities

You will own product strategy, roadmaps, and outcomes for chip-based hardware products and work cross-functionally to commercialize them.

  • Define long-term product strategies and roadmaps for chip-based technologies and set milestones to reduce commercialization risk.
  • Own product outcomes: market validation, adoption, commercial viability, and contribution to revenue growth.
  • Translate customer needs into product requirements balancing UX, feasibility, and business impact.
  • Partner with engineering (ASIC and PIC teams) to influence technical direction and deliver products on schedule.
  • Engage with customers and industry stakeholders to validate product-market fit and uncover new applications.
  • Collaborate with business development and sales to evaluate opportunities and support commercialization.
  • Prioritize product and technology investments based on market opportunity, technical feasibility, and commercialization risk.
  • Evaluate market size, pricing, unit economics, and total cost of ownership to guide strategy.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience required for success in this role.

  • 10+ years of product management experience in semiconductor or chip-based product development and commercialization.
  • Proven track record of bringing semiconductor technologies into commercially successful products, including considerations for product integration and high-volume adoption.
  • Strong understanding of data networking concepts (for example, OSI model) and semiconductor chip-to-system integration.
  • Experience owning product roadmaps and driving cross-functional execution.
  • Ability to translate customer needs into clear product direction and prioritized backlogs.
  • Strong analytical and commercial judgment: market sizing, pricing, unit economics, and total cost of ownership.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to influence technical and commercial stakeholders.
  • Comfortable operating in ambiguity and thinking long-term about product development.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience building products for telecom operators or large infrastructure customers.
  • Experience developing semiconductor-based products for telecommunications, automotive, robotics, or other high-volume commercial applications.
  • Familiarity with optical systems, wireless backhaul technologies, silicon photonics, or high-speed communications.
  • Experience in startup or high-growth environments.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field preferred. MBA is preferred. Equivalent practical experience in relevant technical/product roles may be considered.
