Director, Intelligent Management and Control
Role Summary
The Director will define and execute the product and business strategy for Marvell's Integrated Management Control Processor (IMCP) platform, owning roadmap, customer engagements, and strategic account outcomes for out-of-band platform management across server, storage, and networking infrastructure.
The role focuses on platform management (BMC integration, telemetry, lifecycle management, security) for hyperscale cloud and OEM/ODM customers and requires translating customer requirements into silicon and software solutions that achieve design wins at scale.
Experience Level
Senior — typically requires 10+ years of semiconductor, systems, or infrastructure platform experience and demonstrated leadership driving cross-functional, customer-facing initiatives.
Responsibilities
Accountabilities include product strategy, customer engagement, go-to-market leadership, and coordinating cross-functional execution to secure platform-level design wins.
- Define and drive the IMCP product roadmap across server management, BMC, telemetry, security (RoT, secure boot), lifecycle management, and connectivity.
- Align product strategy with industry standards (e.g., Redfish/Swordfish, IPMI, PLDM, MCTP, OpenBMC, OBMF, OCP, CXL management extensions).
- Build and maintain strategic relationships with hyperscale cloud operators, OEMs, and ODMs; influence platform-level architecture decisions.
- Secure high-value platform design wins and manage the opportunity funnel in collaboration with sales and engineering.
- Translate market signals into product positioning, competitive differentiation, TAM/SAM/SOM analysis, pricing, and MRDs.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams (engineering, sales, marketing, operations) to deliver solutions and presentations for senior leadership and customers.
- Lead revenue forecasting, pricing decisions, contract negotiations, and long-range business planning for the IMCP portfolio.
Requirements
Must-have qualifications, technical competencies, and business skills required to perform the role.
Must-have:
- 10+ years of experience in semiconductor, systems, or infrastructure platform roles with product or business ownership responsibilities.
- Deep knowledge of platform management ecosystems, including BMC architectures, IPMI, Redfish, infrastructure telemetry, RAS, and security/Root of Trust concepts.
- Proven success leading complex cross-functional initiatives and securing platform-level design wins with hyperscalers, OEMs, or ODMs.
- Experience developing business strategies: product roadmaps, MRDs, market analysis, revenue forecasting, pricing strategy, and strategic negotiations.
- Strong executive-level customer communication and presentation skills.
- Eligible to access export-controlled technology; employment may be subject to export license review.
Nice-to-have / Preferred:
- MSEE and/or MBA.
- Existing relationships with hyperscale cloud providers, OEMs, or ODMs and experience securing platform design wins.
- Experience with embedded processors, SoCs, OpenBMC/OpenRMC, NVMe-MI, SPDM, DICE, secure firmware update frameworks, and participation in standards organizations (OCP, DMTF, CXL Consortium).
- Deep understanding of silicon tradeoffs (performance, power, integration, cost).
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field is required. Master’s degree in EE (MSEE) and/or MBA is preferred.
