Digital Test Engineer, Staff

Role Summary

Member of Product and Test Engineering (PTE) responsible for developing test solutions for New Product Introduction (silicon validation and characterization) and manufacturing enablement of Qualcomm SoC products.

Work spans IP-level and system-level digital test, ATE development, yield/diagnostics, and collaboration with design, DFT/DFM, packaging, thermal and photonics teams.

Experience Level

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include test development, silicon validation, and manufacturing support.

• Design and implement ATE and bench test solutions for silicon validation, characterization, and manufacturing enablement.
• Create test programs, automation, and data-analysis tooling using Python/Java/Linux.
• Develop and execute test plans on ATE and lab equipment; operate oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, logic/network analyzers.
• Troubleshoot silicon issues related to signal integrity, transmission-line effects, and device-level failures.
• Collaborate with design, DFT/DFM, packaging, thermal, and photonic teams to enable NPI and transition to volume manufacturing.
• Analyze yield, diagnostics, and test-time optimization to improve manufacturability and test coverage.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred items listed separately.

• 3+ years of hardware engineering or related experience.
• Proficiency with Python, Java, and Linux for test automation and tooling.
• Hands-on experience with lab and test equipment (oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, logic analyzers, network analyzers).
• Knowledge of signal integrity and transmission-line theory.
• Experience in test development or characterization for silicon or optoelectronic subsystems.

Nice-to-have:

• Experience with Advantest 93K or Teradyne UFlex/IFlex ATE platforms.
• FPGA programming and embedded software development for optical subsystem prototyping.
• Familiarity with active/passive photonic devices and optical communication metrics (OSNR, receiver sensitivity, optical modulation index, filtering).
• Experience supporting high-volume semiconductor or EIC/PIC production.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
