Role Summary
The Digital Physical Design Engineer (G2) will contribute to the physical implementation of complex digital integrated circuits. The role involves various stages of the physical design flow, ensuring performance, power, and area targets are met.
Experience Level
Mid-level; minimum of 4 years of experience in digital physical design.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Executing physical design activities including floor planning, power planning, place and route, clock tree synthesis, and static timing analysis (STA).
- Performing physical verification (DRC, LVS, Antenna) and resolving related issues.
- Conducting power integrity analysis (IR drop, EM) and optimizing designs for power efficiency.
- Participating in design-for-test (DFT) implementation and verifying test structures.
- Collaborating with design, verification, and DFT teams to achieve project milestones.
- Analyzing and resolving design issues related to timing, area, and power.
- Developing and maintaining scripts for automation and efficiency improvements.
- Contributing to the continuous improvement of physical design methodologies and flows.
- Generating comprehensive reports and documentation of design implementation.
Requirements
Must-have qualifications include:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronics Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum 4 years of experience in digital physical design of complex SoCs or ASICs.
- Proficiency with industry-standard EDA tools for physical design (e.g., Synopsys Fusion Compiler/Innovus, Cadence Genus/Tempus/Voltus/Pegasus, Mentor Calibre, Synopsys Primetime).
- Solid understanding of physical design concepts, timing closure techniques, and static timing analysis (STA).
- Experience with scripting languages such as Tcl, Perl, or Python.
- Familiarity with deep sub-micron process technologies and VLSI design principles.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronics Engineering or a related field is required.
