Job Title

Digital IC Design Engineer - Embedded Processors

Role Summary

Design digital IP and high-performance digital circuits that interface with mixed-signal/analog blocks for embedded processors and microcontrollers. Work spans RTL design, verification support, timing closure, and silicon bring-up.

Join the Embedded Processors team focused on processor and microcontroller IP for automotive, industrial, and consumer applications; collaborate with SoC, verification, validation, test, systems, and applications teams to deliver production-quality IP.

Experience Level

Mid-level. Position expects approximately 5+ years of relevant RTL/Design/Verification experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include digital IP design, verification support, and delivery from requirements through silicon.

  • Define and refine micro-architecture for digital IP blocks and convert system requirements into RTL.
  • RTL development, simulation, and verification quality-control flows.
  • Synthesis, timing-closure, and clock-domain crossing analysis to meet area, power, and performance goals.
  • Support IP verification plans, functional debug, and collaboration with verification teams.
  • Support silicon bring-up, test program development, customer engagement, and silicon/application debug.
  • Interface with 3rd-party IP vendors; drive requirements, delivery milestones, and quality metrics.
  • Prepare test methods, specifications, documentation, and demo hardware as needed.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and practical experience for immediate contribution; preferred items listed after.

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in RTL/design/DV development for digital IP.
  • Front-end design experience of complex multi-clock-domain IP blocks.
  • Proficient in Verilog and RTL coding best practices.
  • Experience with lint tools, CDC checkers, synthesis, and timing-closure flows.
  • Experience with simulation and waveform debug tools (example: Cadence Ncsim).
  • Strong analytical, debugging, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Nice-to-have: SystemVerilog, bus/protocol experience (AXI/AMBA, CHI, AHB, APB), exposure to ARM CPU cores/DDR/cache/DSP, scripting (Tcl, Perl, Python), and verification/validation experience.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field (Degree Level listed as Bachelor's Degree).
