Role Summary

Lead an electrical engineering team to design and deliver digital hardware, FPGA/SoC solutions, and host PCBs for vehicle management, DSP, and networking systems used in defense products.

The role requires driving FPGA/HDL workflows, overseeing PCB development from requirements through bring-up, and coordinating across teams to deliver hardware and IP cores on schedule.

Experience Level

Senior-level - requires 7+ years of relevant experience and prior experience leading an electrical engineering team focused on digital design.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include technical leadership, design reviews, and managing the hardware development lifecycle.

  • Lead and mentor an electrical engineering team producing FPGA/SoC and PCB-based solutions.
  • Define and improve FPGA/HDL design workflows: architecture, simulation, verification, and system testing.
  • Independently review high-speed digital and compute-focused hardware designs.
  • Oversee full PCB development cycle for host boards (requirements, schematic capture, layout, bring-up, test, integration).
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define hardware and IP delivery strategy across the organization.
  • Create and communicate detailed product development schedules and task ownership to meet deadlines.

  • Familiarity with common FPGA, CPU, MCU, and GPU devices and architectures.
  • Experience with standard interfaces: Ethernet, CAN, I2C, SPI, PCIe, USB.
  • Design experience for signal integrity and power integrity considerations.
  • Solid knowledge of modern analog and digital electronics and circuits.
  • Competence using test equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, thermal chambers, current probes) and automating tests.
  • Proficiency with Altium Designer or equivalent EDA tools.
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Top Secret security clearance.

Nice-to-have:

  • Familiarity with DO-254, DO-178C, DO-160, DO-311A compliance processes.
  • Familiarity with MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-704, MIL-STD-461.
