Job Title
Digital Design Lead
Role Summary
Lead technical development and execution of digital IP and chip-level design for optical controller SoCs targeting AI datacenter and hyperscale interconnect applications.
Manage a team of digital designers and coordinate across system, analog/mixed-signal, verification, firmware, and test teams to deliver mixed-signal SoCs through tape-out.
Experience Level
Senior β typically requires 8+ years of experience in digital IC / SoC design with demonstrated leadership of complex IP or full-chip projects.
Responsibilities
Lead technical and project activities for digital design within optical controller SoC programs.
- Define block- and chip-level digital architecture, micro-architecture, and RTL design.
- Drive architecture and micro-architecture trade-offs among performance, power, area, and schedule.
- Review and approve critical RTL, verification strategies, and design documentation.
- Serve as technical escalation point for complex design, integration, and silicon bring-up issues.
- Own end-to-end digital design execution from architecture definition through tape-out.
- Define and manage project plans, schedules, milestones, dependencies, and risk mitigation for digital activities.
- Coordinate cross-functionally with system, analog/mixed-signal, verification, firmware, and test teams to ensure integration.
- Lead, mentor, and grow the digital design team; conduct design and project reviews to ensure accountability and quality.
- Support occasional travel (approximately 10%).
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience. Degrees and fields are listed separately under Education Requirements.
- 8+ years experience in digital IC/SoC design with ownership of complex IPs or full-chip designs.
- Hands-on expertise in RTL design, digital architecture, and mixed-signal SoC integration.
- Solid understanding of block-level and system-level verification methodologies and flows.
- Proven experience leading projects and mentoring engineers; ability to drive execution and resolve technical challenges.
- Familiarity with EDA flows (synthesis, STA, verification) and scripting languages such as Python, Tcl, or Perl.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to align cross-functional stakeholders.
- Self-driven, resilient, and able to operate in a fast-paced AI datacenter product development environment.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience or awareness of AI-assisted design tools to improve productivity.
Education Requirements
M.S. or Ph.D. in Microelectronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
