Job Title
Digital Design Engineer I
Role Summary
Join the Wireless MCU β Digital Design team to design digital components and integrate them into mixed-signal system-on-chip (SoC) products for wireless microcontrollers. The role focuses on RTL development, block-level implementation and integration, verification support, and silicon bring-up.
Experience Level
Entry-level (Engineer I). Suitable for recent graduates or candidates with internship, co-op, research, or substantial project experience in digital IC or SoC design.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include digital design, verification support, and integration of digital IP within SoC projects.
- Design, implement, and validate RTL digital logic blocks for integration into mixed-signal SoCs.
- Contribute to SoC architecture and block-level digital design activities.
- Develop models, simulations, and verification plans to ensure functionality and performance.
- Collaborate with analog, verification, firmware, and systems engineers to integrate components.
- Analyze design results, debug issues, and support root-cause investigations during development.
- Participate in design reviews and provide technical recommendations to improve design quality and efficiency.
- Support silicon bring-up, validation, and characterization as needed.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience.
- Academic or project experience in VLSI design, digital IC design, digital embedded systems, computer architecture, or SoC development.
- Understanding of digital design fundamentals: RTL design, finite state machines, timing concepts, and digital logic implementation.
- Experience with hardware description languages such as Verilog or SystemVerilog (coursework, internships, research, or project work).
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and debugging skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative engineering environment and communicate technical concepts clearly.
Nice-to-have:
- Internship, co-op, research, or project experience related to digital IC design, SoC development, or semiconductor product development.
- Exposure to digital verification methodologies, simulation tools, and verification environments.
- Experience with industry-standard EDA tools for synthesis, timing analysis, or verification.
- Knowledge of embedded systems, microcontroller architectures, or wireless communication systems.
- Exposure to mixed-signal design concepts and analog/digital integration.
- Participation in engineering competitions, technical organizations, or open-source hardware projects.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
