Job Title

Digital Design Engineer, DFT

Role Summary

Design and verify DFT (design-for-test) architectures and implementations for ASIC/SoC products within Analog Devices' digital design teams. Work spans DFT specification, scan/ATPG insertion, compression, and pre/post-silicon debug.

Position requires collaboration with product teams and occasional onsite travel (~10%).

Experience Level

Entry-level / Early career - requires approximately 2 years of directly related ASIC/SoC DFT experience.

Responsibilities

Primary day-to-day responsibilities include:

  • Define DFT specifications and architecture; implement using modern methodologies and tools.
  • Perform scan insertion and ATPG flow integration across product lines.
  • Implement DFT compression and on-chip clock control insertion.
  • Develop high-coverage, low-power, low-test-time scan patterns.
  • Execute pre- and post-silicon verification and debug, including gate-level simulation with SDF.
  • Collaborate across teams and work independently as required.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience:

  • ~2 years of ASIC/SoC DFT experience, including hands-on scan insertion and ATPG tools.
  • Practical experience with DFT compression insertion and on-chip clock control insertion.
  • Experience with gate-level simulation (zero delay) and SDF back-annotation.
  • Solid understanding of DFT architecture, planning, and failure analysis.
  • Proficient scripting in Perl, Python or Tcl.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work in cross-functional teams.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with Tessent DFT tools.
  • Familiarity with IEEE 1149 / JTAG, LBIST, MBIST.
  • Experience with advanced DFT topics: low power techniques, SSN, fault grading.

Education Requirements

Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field is specified as a minimum qualification.
