Digital Design Engineer
Texas InstrumentsJob Title
Digital Design Engineer
Role Summary
Senior RTL Design Engineer on the ASM Auto team responsible for microarchitecture and RTL development for automotive microcontrollers (MCUs). The role focuses on SoC integration for ARM-based designs and cross-functional collaboration to deliver robust subsystems.
Experience Level
Mid-level - 2–5 years of hands-on experience in RTL development for IPs and SoCs.
Responsibilities
Deliver RTL and SoC-level design work and coordinate integration across teams:
- Define and develop microarchitecture for CPU subsystems, low-power domains, and Reset & Clock Management modules.
- Own SoC integration tasks for automotive MCUs, ensuring scalable and efficient implementations.
- Collaborate with IP, systems, and architecture teams to derive requirements and align on design goals.
- Work with Design Verification, DFT, emulation, and physical implementation teams to ensure correctness and manufacturability.
- Participate in debug sessions and design reviews; address timing, constraints, and robustness issues.
- Ensure designs meet applicable automotive and quality standards.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience:
- 2–5 years RTL development experience for IPs and SoCs; proficient in SystemVerilog and Verilog.
- Experience in SoC integration with ARM processors and ARM bus architectures.
- Understanding of reset and clocking architectures, constraints, timing analysis, and optimization techniques.
- Experience with standard interfaces such as SPI/QSPI, I2C, Debug/Trace, and CAN.
- Familiarity with front-end tools and flows: Lint, CDC, LEC and power-estimation/formal tools (examples: Jasper Gold, Conformal, Joules).
- Knowledge of DFT concepts and design-for-testability practices.
- Experience with industry-standard simulators and formal verification tools.
- Strong debugging, problem-solving, and communication skills; ability to guide junior engineers.
- Preferred: scripting for automation (Python, Perl, TCL), automotive-grade SoC experience, ISO 26262 familiarity, and low-power design techniques.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field (specified in the posting).
