Job Title

Digital Design Engineer

Role Summary

The Digital Design Engineer will design digital systems and building blocks for MEMS microphone ASICs, collaborating with analog/mixed-signal designers, test and verification engineers to deliver low-power, high-performance audio ASICs from concept to production. The role is based in San Diego, CA.

Experience Level

Senior — 8+ years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

Primary duties include architectural design, RTL implementation, verification planning, and low-power audio DSP development.

  • Develop digital architecture including audio signal path (DSP) and analog–digital interfaces.
  • Create functional and behavioral models using Matlab/Simulink, Verilog-AMS, or similar tools.
  • Perform RTL design, synthesis, timing closure, scan pattern generation, and power optimization.
  • Supervise RTL-to-GDS flow and coordinate with back-end teams.
  • Define and support the digital verification plan; verify digital blocks with verification engineers.
  • Develop low-power audio signal processing architectures and implementations.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience. Items marked as advantages are noted where applicable.

  • 8+ years developing digital blocks/systems for high-performance mixed-signal integrated circuits in R&D or product environments.
  • Hands-on experience designing low-power digital circuits and DSP implementations.
  • Good understanding of the digital design flow and Design-for-Test (DFT).
  • Familiarity with analog/mixed-signal concepts and metrics (sampling, quantization, FFT, SNR, THD).
  • Experience with sigma-delta ADCs or audio signal processing.
  • Knowledge of EDA tools (Cadence Genus, Tempus, Jasper, Voltus, Modus, Conformal, etc.) is an advantage.
  • Proficient with Matlab/Simulink.
  • Structured, methodical approach; strong teamwork and communication skills.

Education Requirements

Advanced degree in electronic engineering or a related field (Master's or PhD preferred).
