Digital Design Engineer
Texas InstrumentsJob Title
Digital Design Engineer
Role Summary
Design digital logic and RTL for mixed-signal audio products, working across digital, analog, firmware and validation domains. Contribute to architecture, implementation, verification support and silicon bring-up for consumer and industrial audio devices.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to close spec gaps, support timing closure, and deliver production-ready designs.
Experience Level
Mid-level - typically 2–5 years of relevant digital design experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include design, integration, verification support, and documentation of digital subsystems.
- Design and develop digital logic: signal chain, clocking, fault & interrupt handlers, memory management, and FPGA interfaces.
- Prepare design architecture and implementation documentation and lead architecture/design reviews.
- Collaborate with analog and firmware teams to integrate system-level specifications and close spec gaps.
- Perform lint, CDC and RDC checks; develop constraints and synthesis flows; support timing closure with physical design.
- Support DV and silicon validation with test plans, design debug, root cause analysis and workarounds.
- Review verification coverage and approve waivers where appropriate.
- Drive methodology and tool improvements with EDA teams and document changes to flows.
- Communicate design status and issues to stakeholders and mentor or assist team members as needed.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience; preferred items listed below.
- 2–5 years of hands-on digital design experience.
- Strong digital design fundamentals and RTL microarchitecture experience.
- Hands-on RTL coding experience (Verilog, VHDL or SystemVerilog).
- Experience with lint, CDC, RDC, constraint development and synthesis.
- Solid understanding of digital timing analysis and timing closure.
- Proficiency with simulation tools (preferably Cadence).
- Basic scripting skills (shell, Python or Perl).
- Strong debugging, analytical, communication and teamwork skills.
- Experience supporting test, silicon validation and application engineering for debug and customer support.
Nice-to-have / preferred:
- Knowledge of audio signal chains, I2C, ASI/TDM and signal processing concepts.
- Experience with FPGA, memory architecture and MATLAB for audio processing.
- Familiarity with physical design concepts and silicon debug/validation.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Electronics & Communication Engineering (EE/ECE) is listed as required in the posting.
