Job Title

DFT Staff Engineer

Role Summary

Owner of ATPG responsibilities for next-generation high-performance CPU cores within the Cores DFT team. Deliver test and DFT solutions that enable first-pass silicon success by balancing power, area and timing constraints.

Work closely with architecture, IP design, physical design and product engineering teams to plan and execute test strategy across pre-silicon and post-silicon phases.

Experience Level

Senior-level engineer. No specific years-of-experience stated.

Responsibilities

The role focuses on ATPG, test integration, and silicon bring-up for complex core designs.

  • Own ATPG delivery and test strategy for next-generation cores (stuck-at, at-speed, path-delay).
  • Implement and validate scan infrastructure and scan compression flows.
  • Debug low coverage cases, DRC fixes and test-pattern issues pre- and post-silicon.
  • Support silicon bring-up and post-silicon debug activities.
  • Collaborate with architecture, IP, physical design and product teams to meet timing, power and area targets.
  • Develop and run scripts/tools in Linux for automation and data analysis.
  • Present findings and coordinate cross-functional remediation and verification plans.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and practical experience to perform the role; preferred items follow.

  • Must-have: Experience with DFT tools and ATPG (stuck-at, at-speed, path-delay) and scan compression.
  • Proficient in Verilog for logic design and test insertion verification.
  • Experience debugging low coverage, DRC fixes and test pattern failures.
  • Experience supporting silicon bring-up and post-silicon debug.
  • Comfortable in Linux and proficient with scripting languages (Perl, Tcl, etc.).
  • Experience with Tessent Scan/ATPG or equivalent commercial ATPG tools.
  • Strong presentation and cross-team communication skills.
  • Nice-to-have: Hands-on expertise with commercial test generation tools for very large designs; experience running test compression software; knowledge of JTAG, test pattern translation, yield learning, logic diagnosis, IEEE 1500, MBIST/LBIST.
  • Self-driven with a strong sense of ownership.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering required; a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering is listed as an academic credential.
