DFT Engineer (Multiple Levels)
QualcommJob Title
DFT Engineer (Multiple Levels)
Role Summary
As a DFT Engineer on Qualcomm's Hardware Engineering team, you will design, verify, and implement design-for-test features for ASICs to enable manufacturable, testable silicon. Work spans scan insertion, ATPG, coverage analysis, timing constraints, test-vector simulation and DFT rule checks.
Collaborate with cross-functional and international teams to deliver DFT solutions across multiple simultaneous designs.
Experience Level
Mid-level β typically requires 3+ years of ASIC/DFT experience.
Responsibilities
Primary duties focus on implementing and validating DFT and test features through the design and verification flow.
- Plan, design and verify DFT features and test flows for ASICs.
- Perform scan insertion and integrate ATPG flows; run coverage and transition-delay test coverage analysis.
- Define test-mode timing constraints and implement corrective timing fixes.
- Simulate test vectors and perform equivalence checks and DFT DRC.
- Develop and maintain automation/scripting to support DFT flows (Perl, shell, etc.).
- Collaborate with RTL, synthesis, timing and validation teams to resolve test-related issues.
- Manage multiple concurrent high-priority designs and provide technical problem solving.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience:
- Minimum 3+ years professional experience in ASIC/DFT.
- In-depth knowledge of DFT concepts, scan insertion, ATPG and coverage analysis.
- Experience defining test-mode timing constraints and applying timing fixes for violations.
- Experience simulating test vectors and performing equivalence checks.
- Familiarity with RTL lint and ATPG tools (e.g., SpyGlass, Tessent, TetraMax) and DFT DRC rules.
- Proficiency in scripting (Perl, shell) and in automating DFT flows.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills; ability to work in international teams.
- Ability to learn new tools and handle multiple designs in parallel.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with Genus, Synopsys DFTMax/TetraMax and Cadence Encounter Test.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering or a related field plus 4+ years of hardware engineering experience; OR Master's in those fields plus 3+ years; OR PhD in those fields plus 2+ years. Related technical degrees or equivalent practical experience are acceptable.
