Job Title
DFT Engineer
Role Summary
Work on mixed-signal audio SoC designs as part of the ASIC development team in Austin. The role focuses on design-for-test (DFT) implementation, memory BIST and scan insertion, ATPG and verification, and delivering validated test patterns for production test and silicon bring-up.
Experience Level
Mid-level. The team expects candidates with practical ASIC DFT experience; typical hires meet or exceed 2 years of relevant industry experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include planning and implementing DFT features and producing validated test patterns for product test and bring-up.
- Define, implement, and review DFT features within the project team.
- Generate, insert, and verify memory BIST logic.
- Perform scan insertion and ATPG pattern generation.
- Develop and review DFT timing and equivalence-checking constraints.
- Verify MBIST and ATPG patterns with gate-level simulations.
- Identify and close test coverage gaps; perform test cost planning and analysis.
- Deliver MBIST and ATPG patterns to product test group and support ATE silicon bring-up.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience for successful performance in the role.
- Hands-on ASIC DFT design and verification experience.
- Experience with industry DFT EDA tools (examples: FastScan, TestKompress, TetraMAX, Test Compiler).
- Practical experience with MBIST insertion and verification, scan insertion, ATPG pattern generation, and gate-level verification.
- Familiarity with DFT timing and equivalence-checking constraints and with test coverage analysis.
- Experience supporting delivery of patterns to test groups and ATE silicon bring-up.
Nice-to-have skills and behaviors.
- Experience with Verilog, SystemVerilog, or VHDL.
- Understanding of low-power test techniques and architectures.
- Scripting experience (Perl, Python, Tcl) and experience with flows and automation.
- Familiarity with synthesis, static timing analysis, and developing timing constraints.
- Experience debugging and root-causing silicon problems; strong oral and written communication; able to work independently and in a team.
Education Requirements
MSEE with 2+ years of industry experience, or BS with relevant industry experience.
