Job Title
DFT Engineer
Role Summary
Perform design-for-test (DFT) activities for chip blocks and full-chip implementations, focusing on MBIST and scan insertion, ATPG, ATE pattern development, silicon bring-up and yield analysis. Work across design, verification, implementation, ATE and product teams to improve testability and production yield.
Experience Level
Senior-level. The posting requires substantial industry experience (see Education Requirements for degree-specific experience requirements).
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Collaborate with ATE engineers on yield improvement and failure analysis.
- Develop ATE patterns, manage hand-off processes, and perform silicon debugging.
- Participate in block- and chip-level DFT implementation and delivery of related tasks.
- Perform DFT lint checks, MBIST architecture work, logic and scan insertion using industry tools.
- Run ATPG and pattern simulation for MBIST and scan-based tests.
- Work with design, verification, implementation, ATE and product teams during DFT design and silicon bring-up.
- Contribute to improving DFT design methodology and cross-functional processes.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience:
- Experience in silicon bring-up and yield improvement.
- Solid understanding of DFT techniques and digital logic fundamentals.
- Proven experience with RTL lint checking, scan compression, scan insertion, and the ATPG process.
- Experience in MBIST architecture and insertion.
- Experience analyzing and debugging simulation failures.
- Strong knowledge of Mentor Tessent and/or Synopsys DFT and simulation tool suites.
- Proficiency with Perl or other scripting languages for test and data analysis.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience developing STA constraints for DFT modes.
Education Requirements
Required: BSEE with 12+ years of relevant engineering experience, or MSEE with 8+ years of relevant engineering experience. Degree in Electrical Engineering or closely related technical field indicated.
