Job Title
DFT Engineer
Role Summary
Join the ASIC Product Division development center in San Jose to implement and validate design-for-test (DFT) solutions across SoC projects. The engineer will work with Physical Design & STA and cross-functional teams to deliver test insertion, vector generation, silicon bring-up support, and yield-improvement activities.
Experience Level
Mid-level — posting specifies 2+ years of relevant industry experience with a Bachelor's, or an advanced degree; typical mid-career responsibilities and autonomy.
Responsibilities
Key day-to-day responsibilities include DFT specification, implementation, verification, and production support for ASICs.
- Define DFT specifications based on Broadcom and customer requirements.
- Implement DFT techniques: scan, MBIST, TAP, LBIST, IO, SerDes, and other input/output DFT integrations.
- Generate, verify, and debug test vectors prior to tape-out.
- Validate and debug test vectors on ATE during silicon bring-up.
- Support silicon failure analysis, diagnostics, and yield-improvement efforts.
- Automate DFT flows and test-vector generation to improve efficiency and repeatability.
Requirements
Technical skills and experience required or strongly preferred.
- Hands-on experience with DFT flows and test-vector generation.
- Proficiency in scripting/coding: TCL, Perl, Ruby, Python, or C++.
- Experience with Verilog coding, testbench creation, and simulation.
- Memory BIST insertion and verification on embedded memories (SRAM, CAM, eDRAM, ROM).
- Familiarity with Test-STA and constraint concepts.
- Knowledge of IEE-1687/IJTAG, ICL, and PDL for test access and instrument control.
- Solid fundamentals in analog and digital circuit design and device physics; understanding of silicon processing, synthesis, and transistor reliability.
- Strong debugging, root-cause analysis, and communication skills; ability to work across disciplines and departments.
- ATE experience is a plus.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronic, or Computer Engineering with 2+ years of relevant industry experience, or a Master's degree in the same fields. Equivalent practical industry experience may be acceptable.
