DFT Engineer
BroadcomJob Title
DFT Engineer
Role Summary
Design-for-Test (DFT) engineer responsible for DFT implementation, ATPG and ATE pattern development, MBIST design and insertion, silicon bring-up, and yield analysis for semiconductor blocks and chips. Works within the implementation and product teams to ensure testability and support silicon debug.
Experience Level
Senior β requires significant industry experience (see Education Requirements for degree + years guidance).
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities involve DFT implementation, test program development, and cross-team silicon bring-up support.
- Develop and implement block- and chip-level DFT, including scan insertion and MBIST architecture.
- Create and validate ATPG and ATE patterns; perform pattern simulation and verification for MBIST and scan.
- Develop ATE patterns, manage hand-off to test, and support silicon debugging and yield improvement efforts with ATE engineers.
- Perform RTL lint checking and DFT lint checks; analyze and debug simulation failures.
- Collaborate with design, verification, implementation, ATE, and product teams during DFT design and silicon bring-up phases.
- Contribute to DFT methodology and process improvements.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience required to perform the role.
- Proven experience with silicon bring-up and yield improvement.
- Strong understanding of DFT techniques, including scan compression, scan insertion, and ATPG flow.
- Experience with MBIST architecture and insertion (design and insertion tasks).
- Experience analyzing and debugging simulation failures and silicon faults.
- Familiarity with digital logic fundamentals.
- Hands-on experience with Mentor Tessent and/or Synopsys DFT and simulation tool suites.
- Proficiency in Perl or other scripting languages for automation and pattern generation.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for cross-functional collaboration.
- Nice-to-have: STA constraint development in DFT modes.
Education Requirements
Required: Bachelor's degree in Engineering with 8+ years of related experience, or Master's degree with 6+ years of related experience. (Source lists Engineering degrees; no certifications or alternate-equivalent language specified.)
