Job Title
DFT Engineer
Role Summary
Work on SoC Design-for-Test (DFT) activities for Broadcom's ASIC Products Division at the San Jose development center. The role covers DFT implementation, test vector generation and verification, post-silicon debug, yield-improvement activities, and coordination with Physical Design & STA teams and customers.
Responsible for automating flows, validating test vectors on ATE during silicon bring-up, and supporting failure analysis and diagnostics.
Experience Level
Mid-level — typically 2+ years of relevant industry experience, or a Master's degree in a related engineering field.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Define DFT specifications to meet product test metrics and customer requirements.
- Implement DFT features such as scan insertion, MBIST, TAP, LBIST, IO, SerDes and other input DFT integration.
- Generate, verify, and debug test vectors prior to tape-out.
- Validate and debug test vectors on ATE during silicon bring-up.
- Assist with silicon failure analysis, diagnostics and yield improvement efforts.
- Collaborate with Physical Design and STA teams to achieve DFT-mode timing closure.
- Automate DFT and test-vector generation flows.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience:
- Hands-on exposure to DFT flows.
- Experience with Verilog coding, testbench generation and simulation.
- Memory BIST insertion and verification experience for embedded memories (SRAM, CAM, eDRAM, ROM).
- Familiarity with Test-STA and constraints.
- Knowledge of IEE-1687/IJTAG, ICL and PDL.
- Experience with scripting/programming for automation (TCL, Perl, Ruby, Python, C++ or similar).
- Strong problem solving, debugging and root-cause analysis skills and ability to work across disciplines.
- Solid understanding of analog and digital circuit design, device physics, silicon processing, synthesis and transistor reliability principles.
- ATE experience is a plus (nice-to-have).
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronic or Computer Engineering plus 2+ years of relevant industry experience, or a Master’s degree in Electrical/Electronic/Computer Engineering. Equivalent practical experience may be considered.
