Job Title

DFT Design Engineer, Machine Learning Acceleration

Role Summary

Design and optimize design-for-test (DFT) solutions for AWS machine-learning SoCs (Inferentia, Trainium) used in data-center servers. Work with block designers, physical design, ATE and system teams to deliver testable, high-quality silicon and support silicon bring-up.

Experience Level

Mid-level β€” typically 5+ years of hands-on DFT experience with complex SoC designs.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include defining DFT architecture, implementing test logic, and supporting silicon debug.

  • Define and develop DFT architectures for advanced technology nodes.
  • Implement DFT in RTL using Verilog/SystemVerilog and integrate with PD flows.
  • Use industry-standard DFT tools (ATPG, JTAG, MBIST) to generate high-coverage, cost-effective test patterns.
  • Develop automation scripts to streamline DFT and pattern-generation flows.
  • Participate in silicon bring-up and debug alongside ATE and system teams.
  • Collaborate with block designers and physical design teams to implement DFT-friendly constraints and close timing.
  • Analyze and make trade-offs between test quality, test time, and cost.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and practical experience.

  • 5+ years of practical DFT experience on complex SoC designs at advanced nodes.
  • Experience with ATPG, JTAG, MBIST and standard DFT flows and trade-offs.
  • RTL coding and verification experience using Verilog/SystemVerilog.
  • Experience developing automation scripts to support DFT and verification flows.
  • Experience participating in silicon debug and working with ATE or system teams.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience developing STA constraints for DFT modes and working with PD teams for timing closure.
  • Gate-level simulation setup and SDF-based debug experience.
  • Strong scripting skills (Perl, Python, Tcl).
  • Experience with yield optimization and post-silicon debug.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Communications Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or a related technical field is required. A Master's degree in a related field is preferred.
