Job Title

DFT Design Engineer, Machine Learning Acceleration

Role Summary

Join the Cloud-Scale Machine Learning Acceleration team to design and optimize DFT (Design for Test) architectures for AWS custom ML SoCs used in inference and training servers. The role focuses on implementing high-quality, cost-effective test solutions across advanced technology nodes and supporting silicon bring-up.

Experience Level

Mid-level β€” typically requires 5+ years of practical DFT experience with complex SoC designs.

Responsibilities

Deliver DFT solutions and support silicon validation across design and physical implementation teams.

  • Define and develop DFT architectures for advanced technology nodes.
  • Collaborate with block designers and physical design (PD) teams to implement efficient DFT solutions and close timing for test modes.
  • Write and maintain RTL using Verilog/SystemVerilog and participate in verification activities.
  • Use industry-standard DFT tools (ATPG, JTAG, MBIST) to generate high-coverage, cost-effective test patterns.
  • Participate in silicon debug and validation with ATE and system teams; support yield optimization efforts.
  • Develop automation scripts and tooling to improve DFT flow efficiency.
  • Communicate across hardware, PD, validation, and manufacturing teams.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience are listed first, followed by preferred additions.

  • Must-have: 5+ years of practical DFT experience on complex SoC designs at advanced nodes.
  • Must-have: Hands-on experience with DFT tools and methodologies, including ATPG, JTAG, MBIST, and balancing test quality vs. test time.
  • Must-have: RTL coding and verification experience using Verilog/SystemVerilog.
  • Must-have: Experience developing automation scripts to support DFT flows.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience developing STA constraints for DFT modes and working directly with PD to close timing.
  • Nice-to-have: Gate-level simulation setup and SDF-based debug experience.
  • Nice-to-have: Strong scripting or programming skills (Perl, Python, Tcl) and practical silicon debug/yield optimization experience.

Education Requirements

Minimum: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Communications Engineering, or a related technical field. Preferred: Master's degree in Electrical or Communications Engineering or related field. (Degree information extracted from original posting.)
