Job Title

DFT Design Engineer I, AWS Machine Learning Acceleration

Role Summary

Join the Silicon Optimization Engineering Team to design and optimize Design for Test (DFT) solutions for AWS machine-learning acceleration silicon used in data centers.

The role focuses on DFT architecture development, RTL implementation and verification, DFT insertion flow with physical design, and silicon debug to improve performance, quality, and cost of large-scale server deployments.

Experience Level

Entry-level (Engineer I). Suitable for early-career candidates, new graduates, or candidates with internship/academic experience in VLSI or DFT.

Responsibilities

Contribute to the design, integration, verification, and debug of DFT for accelerator SoCs and collaborate across design and physical teams.

  • Develop, implement, and verify DFT architectures.
  • Integrate DFT implementations with block designers.
  • Work with physical design to set up and implement DFT insertion flows.
  • Develop high-coverage, cost-effective DFT methodologies.
  • Perform RTL coding and verification related to DFT features.
  • Participate in silicon debug and write scripts to process ATE-related data.
  • Communicate and coordinate with cross-functional teams.

Requirements

Key qualifications and technical skills. Distinct lists for must-have and preferred items.

Must-have

  • Academic, internship, or professional experience with VLSI design or DFT.
  • Familiarity with automation script development or software development.
  • Practical RTL coding and verification experience.
  • Ability to debug silicon and analyze test/ATE data.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills across disciplines.

Preferred

  • Project or internship experience with DFT techniques (SCAN, JTAG, MBIST).
  • Breadth of knowledge across chip design, from micro-architecture through physical design.
  • Experience programming or scripting in Perl, Python, or Tcl.

Education Requirements

Required or in-progress: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field. A Master's degree in EE, CE, or Computer Science is listed as preferred. Academic, internship, or professional experience in VLSI/DFT is also accepted.
