Job Title

Device Engineer

Role Summary

As a Device Engineer in Intel Foundry's Manufacturing Development and Customer Engineering (MDCE) Device organization, you will develop and customize CMOS device technologies for high-volume manufacturing. The focus is on general-purpose logic CMOS across markets including high-performance compute, mobile, mixed-signal, and memory controllers.

You will collaborate with technology development and manufacturing teams to improve device performance, power efficiency, scaling, yield, and manufacturability for foundry customers.

Experience Level

Senior β€” typical candidate: Master's degree plus 7+ years in CMOS device engineering; Ph.D. with ~5+ years preferred. Requires experience in advanced CMOS device technology and foundry or high-volume manufacturing.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include technology development, process integration, and cross-functional collaboration to enable scalable manufacturing of CMOS devices.

  • Collaborate with Technology Development to create and customize device architectures to meet customer requirements.
  • Work with manufacturing teams to develop and refine fabrication processes to meet device specifications and yield targets.
  • Develop CMOS logic device technologies supporting a broad set of applications (HPC, mobile, mixed-signal, memory controllers).
  • Drive implementation of customized device technologies compatible with existing manufacturing platforms.
  • Analyze device parametric data, lead DOEs, and apply data-driven approaches to resolve process and manufacturing challenges.
  • Communicate technical results and influence cross-functional teams on aggressive schedules.

Requirements

Must-have items are listed first; preferred skills follow.

  • 7+ years' experience in CMOS device engineering, including advanced CMOS device technology.
  • Experience in a foundry or high-volume manufacturing environment.
  • Expertise in CMOS device physics and fabrication of advanced transistor architectures.
  • Proficiency in device data generation and analysis, DOE principles, and engineering data analysis tools; scripting and data analytics skills.
  • Strong technical problem-solving and communication skills; ability to work in globally distributed, cross-disciplinary teams.
  • Nice-to-have: hands-on experience with 3nm–16nm FinFETs and sub-3nm GAA FETs and a track record of delivering results in fast-paced environments.

Education Requirements

Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field with 7+ years of CMOS device engineering experience is required. Preferred: Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related field with ~5+ years of CMOS device engineering experience. (The posting does not state an explicit equivalent-experience clause.)
