Device Engineer
Role Summary
Work on the full lifecycle of vertical GaN power devices, including device architecture, process integration, modeling, characterization, and reliability. Responsibilities
Contribute to device development, testing, and analysis across design, process, and system evaluation.
- Support device architecture and process integration for vertical GaN power devices.
- Perform device modeling and simulation to guide design and process choices.
- Run on-wafer and discrete device characterization (DC, CV, dynamic testing).
- Conduct failure analysis and reliability investigations for wide-bandgap devices.
- Design or review GDS layouts and test structures for device validation.
- Collaborate with epitaxy, process, packaging, and reliability teams.
- Develop and run application evaluation boards to map device behavior to system performance.
- Maintain clear records of experiments, test data, and process learnings.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience for immediate contribution.
- Practical experience with GaN, SiC, or other wide-bandgap semiconductors in power-device contexts.
- Hands-on experience in at least one area: device characterization, process integration, or device modeling/simulation.
- Proficiency with data analysis tools such as Python or MATLAB.
- Strong written and verbal communication; ability to work across disciplines.
- Ability to keep organized experimental records and test data.
- Comfort working in a hands-on startup environment and collaborating on cross-functional teams.
- Nice-to-have: experience with epitaxy, packaging, GDS layout, test-structure design, or application board development.
Education Requirements
B.S., M.S., or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, or a related field.
