Design Verification Lead
Advanced Micro DevicesJob Title
Design Verification Lead
Role Summary
Lead verification for PCIe, CXL and high-speed connectivity IP within the AECG front-end design and integration team. Work closely with architecture, IP design, physical design, firmware, and product engineering to deliver silicon- and FPGA-ready designs.
Primary mission: ensure first-pass silicon success through robust verification planning, environment development, automation, and cross-team coordination.
Experience Level
Senior β minimum 10 years of design verification experience, with leadership responsibilities.
Responsibilities
Core responsibilities include planning and executing verification for IP and subsystems, building reusable verification infrastructure, and driving methodology improvements.
- Collaborate with architects, hardware designers, and firmware teams to define and verify new PCIe, CXL, and high-speed connectivity features.
- Develop comprehensive verification plans covering feature interactions, HW/SW integration, performance targets, and system-level use cases.
- Design and implement UVM-based verification environments: monitors, scoreboards, checkers, and reusable components.
- Create directed and constrained-random tests, run regressions, and debug failures to achieve coverage and quality goals.
- Drive verification automation, simulation throughput improvements, and adoption of AI-assisted tools to increase productivity.
- Provide technical leadership and mentor engineers across geographically distributed teams.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience for the role, plus relevant preferred capabilities.
Must-have:
- Extensive ASIC/IP verification experience using UVM methodology.
- Strong SystemVerilog and Verilog skills; object-oriented programming proficiency relevant to verification.
- Experience verifying high-speed protocols such as PCIe, CXL, Ethernet, PCIe Gen6, or 400G Ethernet.
- Proficiency in scripting/automation (Python, Perl, or similar).
- Experience across the ASIC/FPGA lifecycle from planning through tape-out.
- Technical leadership and effective communication in distributed teams.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with performance verification, simulation optimization, acceleration, HLS tools, or verification efficiency improvements.
- Familiarity with AI-driven verification methodologies and simulation/verification toolchain enhancements.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. The posting also specifies a minimum of 10 years of design verification experience using UVM methodology.
