Design Verification Engineering Intern (MS/PhD)
Role Summary
The intern will develop and execute verification plans and verification environments to validate mixed-signal integrated circuits. Work includes testbench and simulation development, coverage analysis, regression flow automation, and collaboration with design and system engineers.
Experience Level
Entry-level internship for graduate students (MS or PhD). Intended for candidates currently pursuing a graduate degree with limited industry experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Develop detailed verification plans with design and system teams.
- Create testbenches, tests, and simulations to validate device-under-test behavior.
- Implement and run coverage regressions for SystemVerilog functional coverage of mixed-signal circuits (voltages, currents, real numbers, integers, and digital coverage).
- Track and communicate verification status, issues, and risks.
- Use regression tools and develop scripts to submit and manage regression jobs.
- Verify RTL and gate-level timing, including SDF-based chip-level timing between analog and digital circuits.
- Build constrained-random stimulus and auto-checking verification environments, including constrained-random analog stimulus.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of DV strategy, tools, methods, and flows.
Requirements
Essential skills and professional qualities (see Education Requirements for degree and GPA expectations):
- Familiarity with verification languages and methodologies, particularly SystemVerilog and functional coverage.
- Experience or coursework with testbench development, simulation, and coverage-driven verification.
- Basic understanding of RTL, gate-level simulation, and SDF timing concepts.
- Ability to write scripts and use regression tools to run automated test suites.
- Analytical problem-solving, clear verbal and written communication, and ability to collaborate across teams. (Preferred)
- Ability to learn new systems quickly, manage time effectively, and take initiative. (Preferred)
Education Requirements
Currently pursuing a graduate degree (MS or PhD) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Electrical & Computer Engineering. Job information also lists Bachelor's Degree level and requires a cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0 or higher. The job title indicates MS/PhD candidates are targeted.
